Building Board of Appeals
The Building Board of Appeals is established under the Michigan Construction Code (MCL 125.1514) to hear and decide appeals of decisions made by the County Building Official. The Board ensures fair and consistent application of building codes while maintaining the health, safety, and welfare of the public. To file an appeal, complete the form above and submit to the Building Department.
Responsibilities
- Review appeals of code interpretations, enforcement actions, or orders.
- Consider requests for variances where strict application of the code creates practical difficulty.
- Provide an impartial hearing process for residents, contractors, and property owners.

Meeting Information
